NETTLES ISLAND WOMEN’S CLUB BY-LAWS Article I: Section 1: The fiscal year will be from April to April. Section 2: Membership will be from April to April. Article II: Meetings will be held the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month, from the 3rd Wednesday in October through the 1st Wednesday in April. Article III: Section 1: Article III Section 1: A Renewal membership does not have to be made in person. It may be renewed at a regular meeting, or by mail with check or money order made out to Nettles Island Women’s Club, addressed to Membership Committee Chair. If membership card is to be returned, enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope. Section 2: New membership must be obtained in person at any regular meeting from April through January, unless it is found necessary to put a cap on membership at a previous date. Total membership shall be limited to 300. Section 3: Nettles Island lot owners and seasonal renters (defined as three consecutive month rental or longer) may become members. Section 4: If a member loses her membership card, she may request a new card be issued. This replacement card will be given a new number, and the old card will be voided out. The cost for the replacement card will be $5.00. Article IV: Dues are $5.00 for a membership year, payable to the Treasurer through the Membership Committee. Article V: Section 1: A nominating committee shall present a slate of officers, consisting of a President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer at the first meeting in February. Section 2: No officer shall serve consecutively more than two years. Section 3: Nominations may be made from the floor, provided the nominee has agreed. Section 4: Election of officers shall be held the first meeting in March. Section 5: Officers shall take office at the April meeting. Article VI: Section 1: Any monies raised by the club must go into the Treasury Section 2: All expenditures for conducting club business are pre-approved. Section 3: All other expenditures must be approved by a vote of members present at any regular meeting. The exception is any proposed expenditure that exceeds two hundred fifty ($250.00) must be referred to the Finance Committee for study and consideration. Article VII: Items purchased by the club may be used on request by other organizations in the resort and by the Recreation Department. Article VIII: The library shall be headed by a librarian who is a club member and a volunteer staff shall serve under her. Article IX: Section 1: The club shall be non-political. It is to be used for socializing, philanthropies and education. Section 2: Upon the death of a member, a $25.00 donation may be made in her memory to the charity of the family’s choice. In the event the family does not respond, the club will select a charity. Article X: The By-Laws may be amended at a regular meeting by two-thirds vote of all members present and voting, provided notice of the amendment has been presented at the previous regular meeting. Article XI: The President shall be ex-officio member of all committees. Article XII: The past President’s Circle shall be on alert at all times to assist and guide the club when an EMERGENCY SITUATION arises. Adopted March 1, 1978 Edye Adams, Pres.
